ABOUT THE CAFÉ

Maroon Flowers Women's Day Instagram Pos

Grace Street is a one-of-a-kind Korean dessert café located in Korea Town serving specialty drinks and handmade desserts. They are best known for their bubble teas and bingsoo.

In winter '18, I joined the team as a community engagement coordinator. By attending weekly meetings, looking into trendy and emerging hashtags and taking photos and writing copy for all the Instagram posts, I was able to create a digital presence for the café. A year later, I became the Co-Social Media Strategist and I continued to write copy, brainstorm poster taglines, and engage with the community. During my journey at the café, I also handled important projects such as influencer collaborations and attended events to take pictures and videos to increase brand awareness. I am currently still on the team and am loving the family there!

ABOUT THE PROJECT

It all started when my co-worker, Vicki, and I were eating pizza after our shift. We pulled out our phones and decided to film our own mini mukbang (a video where the host consumes food & interacts with the audience) and told our other co-workers to join us. Our boss chuckled and asked us what we were doing. We described the emerging trend of Mukbangs on YouTube and he loved the idea. And that's how the project all started.

Vicki and I would go into the café before our shift to film Mukbangs, a 3-month long project. From fooling around while eating to funny behind-the-scene moments, we had a lot of fun! We would talk about the incredible history behind Korean desserts and shared fun facts about the café. We worked with the main Social Media Strategist and a filmmaker who put it all together at the end. Seeing collaborative, innovative ideas come to life is why it definitely one of my favorite projects to this day. I had the opportunity to not only eat delicious desserts but a chance to share the beauty of Korean culture with the viewers.
